Gracie Mansion
When Michael Bloomberg became the mayor of New York City, one of his priorities was bringing Gracie Mansion back to its glory. The mansion, traditionally the home of New York's mayors, was built in 1799 and was badly in need of refurbishment. Mayor Bloomberg called in respected interior designer and Alpha board member Jamie Drake to oversee the restoration. Alpha worked on the historica faux marble floor and painted woodgrain on walls, floors and stairways, including the home's grand foyer. The faux marble floor especially required Alpha's artisans to spend weeks on their hands and knees using 18th century techniques to bring the floor back to its former brilliance.
