Prince George Hotel
This beautiful 1903 Beaux Arts hotel in New York's Murray Hill fell into terrible disrepair in the 1970s, when it was used as a homeless shelter by the city, its renowned ballroom becoming a basketball court. Under the aegis of its new owner, the supportive housing organization Common Ground and top interior designer Jamie Drake, Alpha's artisans spent months casting angels and cherubs to replace those gone missing and painting the ceiling and pillars in bright colors with touches of gold. The 4,800 square foot ballroom is now one of the premier event spaces in New York City. The restoration of the Prince George Hotel ballroom won the Landmarks Conservancy Lucy G. Moses Preservation Award in 2006.
